There is a road test. You have to drive for 45 hours with your parent with a permit, so many of them after dark. After youve done your number of hours, you take "in-car" in which you drive with an instructor, at the end of the in-car instruction, you take a "road test" in which the instructor observes your driving and passes or fails you.
